Brock, Pat D., MS, PE
Professor Brock has been on the faculty of the Fire Protection & Safety program since 1975. He received his bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago in 1971 and his master of science degree in industrial engineering from Oklahoma State University in 1983. Before coming to OSU, he spent four years with the Insurance Services Office of Missouri, where his responsibilities included work in the Automatic Sprinkler and Municipal Grading Divisions. Professor Brock is a registered professional Fire Protection Engineer, a member of SFPE and NFPA.
In addition to his university teaching responsibilities, he is an active Fire Protection Consultant and a Developer and Instructor for various Fire Protection Seminars. He has taken his short courses and seminars all over the United States and to Venezuela in South America, where he has been a consultant to the Venezuelan petroleum industry. He has also supervised the inspection and evaluation of more than 1000 office buildings occupied by the U.S. Government and taught seminars for the United States Army Corps of Engineers in Japan and Germany.
Professor Brock serves on the technical committees for NFPA 20 and NFPA 101, as well as the NFPA 5000 committee, which is responsible for development of the NFPA building code. He is also a member of the Underwriters Laboratories Fire Council and is active in the development of questions for NICET certification. Professor Brock is the author of the popular text, "Fire Protection Hydraulics and Water Supply Analysis".
